Isola Gallinara

Gallinara Island

Located about a mile from the coast, it is a nature reserve and a popular destination with diving enthu- siasts, and it is home to one of the largest breeding colonies of yellow-legged gulls in the Ligurian Sea. Yellow anemones and sponges can be observed on the seabed and on the rocks. There are two diving sites characterised by a rich benthic fauna: Punta Falconara, where it’s possible to observe the statue of Christ laying at a depth of about 18 metres, Punta Sciusciau, between 15 and 30 metres deep, where it’s possible to see fish such as groupers, moray eels, octopuses, scorpion fish and also large sponges.

Alassio's Harbor

The port of Alassio has been awarded a European Blue Flag and is ideal for high-level nautical tourism. It has 550 berths, each equipped with a power socket, for boats ranging from 5 to 30 metres.
It can also contain passing ships up to 35 metres with a maximum draught of 2.80 m. In addition to basic services, it has an ice maker, a coin-operated washer and dryer, a modern suction system for bilge water as well as a charging station for electric cars and two fuel dispensers. At the port, they organise diving courses and sailing courses, both for adults and children. In addition, there are also diving centres for diving excursions in the waters surrounding the island of “Gallinara”.

Barreca & La Varra

Barreca & La Varra’s studio

Barreca & La Varra architectural studio was founded in 2008 in Milan by Gianandrea Barreca and Giovanni La Varra, former founders of Boeri Studio in 1999.
Over the years the professional activity of the two architects has gained national and international significance in the field of urban and architectural design, through the conduct of public and private assignments for important Italian and foreign groups and participation in competitions.
The studio is characterized by constant attention to new construction technologies and their use in experimenting with a complex architectural and urban language, attentive to the changing articulations of contemporary society and the complexity of the economic, social and institutional processes that today involve the city, the territory and the environment.
Together with the professional activity, Gianandrea Barreca and Giovanni La Varra are involved in intense publication and teaching activities.
